I tried to mount my Firewire Hard disk; but this was
taking a long time, I killed off KDE
(CTRL+ALT+BACK_SPACE), and from root prompt rebooted
the machine.
Then:
fsck -Bv /
fsck -Bv /usr
fsck -Bv /tmp
fsck -Bv /var
fsck -Bv /home
Then I tried to mount the firewire hard disk.
When I do this,

I have freeBSD installed on my 40 GB HDD with the
foll. layout:
/ = 512MB
swap=1GB
/var=512MB
/tmp=512MB
/usr=8GB
/home=26GB
(It should roughly total to the max available ~37GB)
I want to have /home resized to 20GB and then create 4
mount points /u01=3GB,/u02=2GB,/u03=512MB,/u04=512MB.

install a STANDARD boot loader on first or on both

Is the following sequence to mount a firewire Hard
disk correct?
a. camcontrol devlist -v
b. camcontrol start da0 (provided it is recognized)
c. mount_msdosfs /dev/da0 /
Is this all needed to mount this HDD?
secondly, should I use camcontrol start or camcontrol
load?

or fluxbox in the standard package (x11-wm) set on
FreeBSD install CD? Blackbox is a light WM and
occupies relatively very little space (about 3-4MB) as
a tarball. And quite handy as a WM on machines with

I have a D815EPEA intel based motherboard. My
dual-boot Redhat 9.0 setup can automatically shutdown
and power off. But freeBSD can't do that (yet).
Are there any flags I need to set in rc.conf or what
do I need to set to recompile the kernel?

You are probably refering to keyboard refresh rate. It
is a setting. In KDE I think it is in COntrol Centre.
Check the keyboard tab.

Using FDISK, I created 1 primary (2GB) and 1 extended
partition (8GB) for Win98. Installed WIn98. Everything
was fine.
