Thanks for the help.
I still have a problem starting up the X windows.
First of all the login screen for X windows still does not allow me to
get into the system. When I type my login name and password , the
screen goes blank and the login screen reappears after some time. If I
type
straight away. There
was not need for any other driver for the tape drive.

I tried the command
fdformat /dev/fd0.1440
and fdformat -f 1440 /dev/fdo
but the result is the same.
Am I doing something wrong?

installation with a realtek card , the details came up and
installation was possible.
How do I make sure that the card is detected in the installation?
