i am a bit confused over this.
the 16 bit unsigned integer takes the value as i checked myself
for 0 to 2^16-1 (=65535).
but the 32 bit unsigned integer/long does not take the
value from 0 to 2^32-1 (4294967295).
instead 32 bit unsigned int/long takes the value from
0 to 2^31-1 (21474

i have to make modifictions to the kernel and
i have been encountering kernel crashes all the
time.
the kernel panics with messages starting with
vm_fault: and then crashes and reboots.
i guess i have done incorrect memory operations and
i want to know where i went wrong.

i have put sshd_enable="YES"
and inetd_enable="YES"
in /etc/rc.conf.
netstat -an also shows that the port numbers
21 and 22 are in listen state
ftp is uncommented in /etc/inetd.conf
but still the ssh/ftp services does not work.

The only differences are the /etc/pam.d has an additional file 'ftp'.
The /usr/src/etc/pam.d contain two additional files Makefile &

hello ive installed freebsd i have 3 versions all of which have the same problem 4.3
4.8 and 5.1 when i go to run the x window it is just huge bigger then the screen in
fact so big i cant tell whats going on so its basically unusable ive tried using the -

I've run into a problem during (actually before) installation. It's probably a common
one, but I couldn't find a word about it on freebsd.org. I boot from the CD (version

when i hit startx in the terminal it wont log me into the graphical interface what
