There's a driver for HDA in current. You can grab binary modules for
RELENG_6 here: http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/lowlatency/

FreeBSD 6.1 CD1 wasn't able to boot at all.
I used FreeBSD 6.2-RC1, then I was able to boot
