What I'm wanting to do is build/installworld from my workstation to a
remote machine but both have different /etc/src.conf and kernel
configuration files. Is there a way to define seperate files so I can
perform this upgrade without any errors?

What was wrong with the INDEX from the ISO image?
Well, maybe its not specifically INDEX, but when combining the two
iso images in a single directory, sysinstall isn't aware that there
is only a single, combine directory.
Sorry ! I also left off I editted the "cdrom.inf" file, removing the

Well, not broken, but its does not look like it was documented.
I was just doing this yesterday, copied ISO #1 completely, then in cd#2
# cd /iso2/packages ; tar -cf - | tar -xvf - -C /nfsinstall/
packages
The file packages/INDEX needs to be updated. I don't know how
to create this, so I

How does one create the NFS installation directory for FreeBSD-5.4 ?
I.e. is it supposed to be as simple as dumping the entire contents
of CD#1 & CD#2 into a directory on an NFS server, and pointing
'sysinstall' to it?

Hello,
Trying to do a 5.4 nfs install. I've copied both disks to an nfs share,
however i'm getting an error that i'm only using disk0 and that perl is on
disk1, insert it. I've only got the one nfs installpoint and it has both
disks copied to it. Is there an extra step wi

ing the from-scratch install, I've selected (A)ll as the
distributions to be installed, and hit "Commit"; the installation
then proceeds as usual (e.g. from 5.3 and prior), until it prompts
to insert the next disc -- I'd never seen this behavior during an
NFS install until FreeBSD-5

What's the best way to setup the repository of files from 5.4-RELEASE
for NFS installation purposes?
In earlier releases, because we usually had CDs/ISOs laying around,
we'd simply dump the entirety of -disc1 onto the NFS server's exported
filesystem and the right thing happened during installs.
er.
As usual this was my own stupidity. NFS is a kernel module on the boot
floppies and the module is on the drivers floppy and not the mfsroot
floppy. rsync'd the NFS modules over and the NFS install worked
flawlessly.
I think the above error is just _slightly_ misleading for a missing kernel

Ok this is the last question I promise...
I am attempting to install FreeBSD via NFS. I keep getting an error from
sysinstall saying:
"Error mounting 10.3.1.20:/usr/FreeBSD/5.2.1-RELEASE on /dist: No such
file or directory"
I can mount 10.3.1.20:/usr/FreeBSD/5.2.1-RELEASE on other systems within
