Nailed it on the head. I had forgotten that a few weeks ago I was messing
around with that file.
I changed this line:
ttyv0 "/usr/libexec/getty Pc" cons25 on insecure
to this:
ttyv0 "/usr/libexec/getty Pc" cons25 on secure
And now I am able to login to root from the co
