You didn't mention your KDE version, but I know that Quanta 3.1 (the one that's in ports now) is meant to be run on KDE 3.1 (also in ports now.) If you installed KDE from the FreeBSD 4.7 CD-Rom, let's say, then that's KDE 3.0. You'd have to do a /usr/ports/x11/kde ; make install clean to do a
