realtek rl0 not working with dchp

hi folks Im setting up an extra box on my home dchp network to use as an internet station it just will not pick up an ip address by dchp even when nothing else is on the network i can manually assign an ip with ifconfig so pretty sure its detected ok also tried 3 different linux distros and
