fetchmail broke

I'm a relative newbie and I'm not sure this is the right place for this question. I recently cvsupped and then recompiled my kernel which broke my fetchmail. I recompiled from ports both fetchmail and sendmail. the relevant message in the fetchmail log is: fetchmail: 5.5.6 querying thecity.sfsu.e
