FYI. Prior to the postgresql new-world-order in ports/, I have now
tagged databases/postgresql72 (current version 7.2.5) as DEPRECATED,
with it being removed from the tree on or about 1st January 2005.
You are *strongly* urged to upgrade to either 7.3.x or 7.4.x
As previously stated (on ports@)
Hi,
I am using FreeBSD 4.9 and have a raid controller card attached , when
i explictly crashed the system kernel dumping start but stops in between
with a message written below. I think it due to the aac controller so is

See UPDATING; you have some binaries still linked to the old

I just made one of my 4.x remote servers inaccessible and just tested it
on my 5.x laptop, and it does the same thing ... not sure if this is
considered a 'desirable' effect, or a but ... but ... 'ifconfig
-alias' will wipe out all IPs on the device:
mobile# ifconfig -a

I've tried your patch from second email (it requires to include
for devsw and D_DISK): the system also became unresponsible.
The main problem is that I could not kill the offending process - it
stuck in biowr state.
In the meantime I've investigated this further. The two

Hm, now that you said this, I was reminded of the following threads:

There's your problem: your userland is out of sync with your kernel.
Just rebuild your system (i.e. kernel AND userland) to get rid of the
problem.
I don't think that's the case here. I'm using a recent 4-stable and I'm
seeing the same:
ipf: IP Filter: v3.4.31 (336)
Kernel: IP Filter: v3.4.35

Hi,
I am currently using Dump / Restore set of scripts for backups over SSH
and I am running into something very annoying.
All machines (tape host and clients) are Freebsd 4.9-p11 and the back

machines has this one partition that

All,
Now that 5.3 is about to be released (really, I mean it this time!) and
5.x is considered -STABLE, further 5.x discussions and bug reports
should migrate over to the freebsd-stable mailing list. I know that
after 4+ years, there is probably a lot of sentimental attachment to
freebsd-current,
