...and just hangs there. This same thing is happening on two machines.

it by ditching the custom kernel
config file I've been using and re-customizing GENERIC. basically I
made all the customizations I had been using to a copy of a freshly
cvsup'd GENERIC and make buildkernel worked.

Try building the kernel following the directions in /usr/src/UPDATING
and see how that goes.

looks like another quick job for vi. Am I the only one seeing these
errors. Could these errors be the result of something corrupting my
source tree?
