btw: I just verified that my umask is 022. Which is what you stated it
should be set to.
And those ports still installed some directories with 700 permissions.

I just bought a Logitech TrackMan Wheel Optical Mouse. It was plugged into
the USB port when I booted FreeBSD, and the system kept rebooting until I
unplugged
