If the patch solves the PR, attach it to the PR submiting a followup
(you have a link for this in the bottom of the PR webpage).
This should be a good way to bump the PR.

A few days ago I update my box to 8-STABLE (RELENG_8) and start
experience freezes using the VLC application.
