guess is that your terminal is set to
US-ASCII and not UTF-8 and will thus not understand UTF-8 encoded
characters.
I'm using konsole where this setting can be found in View -
Character Encoding

pkg_delete -a didn't helped :(
For some reason portmaster will not build kBuild or ports building with kBuild
(such as virtulabox). However a manual make install clean works fine for me. I
guess it's a bug in portmaster.

in an INDEX file that is kept in sync with
the package server by uma(1).
I found it to be the best solution when still using packages on my laptop.
