I also had something similar on a hp machine (single proc)

I rebooted again tonight with verbose logging and the last messages on the
console were;
(probe0:sbp0:0:0:0): error 22
(probe0:sbp0:0:0:0): Unretryable Error
Probe1-6 are listed after this, all with the same error 22
After the probe6 message the machine hangs.
