Hi, Marco - That did not *improve* things. It worked exactly the same. Experimenting, I put the 'device atkbd' line back in the kernel, having read that that makes the USB kb work as /dev/kbd0 instead of /dev/ukbd0, but that brought back the lockup behavior in single-user mode. Normal booting work
