New symptom, as Greg House would say. It appears that keyboard is not as dead as it looks. If I do shutdown -h, the keyboard suddenly becomes usable: I can hit any key to reboot. However, between the start of the late boot stage and the end of halt the system behaves exactly as if somebody pressed
