Hi Freecol Developers,

I am a senior studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie
Mellon University. I am currently taking a course called Foundations of
Software Engineering, and one of the course requirements is contribute to
an active open source project. My partner (Tom Xu) and I are fans of the
Freecol game, and we think it would be exciting to contribute to the
Freecol project.

Specifically, we are hoping to take on Improvement Request #169. We still
have a lot of work to do studying the current codebase, and we are hoping
that we may be able to conclude the project in November by submitting a
patch to this mailing list. Do these sound like reasonable action steps in
planning to contribute to Freecol? Do you have any recommendations
regarding how to get a development environment up and running?

Thanks for your help! Any recommendations, insights, or protocols that we
should know about would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Matt
