I'm not sure you noticed, but I already ported most of FDNPKG to 16bits
a few months ago - it's called FDINST. No network though, nor repository
support, nor LZMA.

wel it comes with it's libs included in the source...
the code is not so portable to 16 bit...
due to dependencies on libraries and 32 bit compilers

I personally think there is too much embedded code in fdnpkg.exe
this makes it very difficult for the transition to 16 bit fdnpkg16
there should be external commands for the compression and networking
functions in fdnpkg
