So to answer your questions:
1. FreeRDP is a RDP library, so you can create clients and server
implementations (see client or server folder for some examples).
There is also a fully functional RDP server for linux based on
FreeRDP available at https://github.com/ogon-project/ogon-pro

I’d like to RDP into my Mac from the Microsoft RD iOS app.
How can I create an RDP server on a Mac?
The FreeRDP docs I read seemed to be about using it just as a client.
