External Email - Use Caution

Hello,

Are the values you want not in the aseg.stats file? You can do it from
individual ROIs, but you have to use all of them, not just the ones you list

Thanks for getting back to me. The aseg file only has volume information and
not anything about surface area or thickness. We found a measure that we think
is global surface area (split by hemisphere) in the aparc files, however, we
are not sure how this value is calculated. Additionally, we see no output of a
global thickness measurement in any of the files and we are curious about how
we can go about generating a global surface area and global thickness. Please
let us know if you have any recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Micah

Dear Freesurfer Experts,

I want to generate global measures of cortical thickness and pial surface area
analogous to using total cerebral volume as a global brain volume estimate.

In your opinion, would it be reasonable to generate these global thickness and
surface area estimates from the following .aparc variables:

SurfArea.lh.Frontal
MeanThick.lh.Frontal
SurfArea.rh.Frontal
MeanThick.rh.Frontal
SurfArea.lh.Occipital
MeanThick.lh.Occipital
SurfArea.rh.Occipital
MeanThick.rh.Occipital
SurfArea.lh.Parietal
MeanThick.lh.Parietal
SurfArea.rh.Parietal
MeanThick.rh.Parietal
SurfArea.lh.Temporal
MeanThick.lh.Temporal
SurfArea.rh.Temporal
MeanThick.rh.Temporal

Regards,

Micah
