You might consider using a REFER if your endpoints support it.
To overcome the G729 transcoding issue with voicemail, I'm using an Audiocodes

mod_dahdi_codec is already part of Freeswitch release afair, so all
you need to do is compile mod_dahdi_codec and choose g729 in your
codecs.

I'm going to say this one last time. DO NOT POST links to g729 on the

and putting the code on the list like this puts the project in a

Dear All,
In this moment i am using Asterisk for my services VoIP; i am testing FS and

You have a few choices. If you can hold out until g729 licensing is
available in FreeSWITCH then that's a viable option. If not then
you'll need to go the hardware route. Go to wiki.freeswitch.org and
search for "mid_dahdi_codec" and you can learn more about the details.

Merely for testing/research purposes I decided to try an "open" G729 codec
posted to this list a couple months ago. I tried it a couple times with
"FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.trunk (11356M)". And everything worked fine, while
starting FS I would get:

Modify the sounds.xml and remove all the .wav extensions... it'll use
mod_native_sound to play the file of the exact codec of the channel.

Hi Lucas,
I definitely don't want to get myself or the FS community into trouble
for patent infringement. I'll look into the patent requirements for
using g729 as I'm describing, although what is interesting is that

Hi Gabriel,
The problem I see is that g729 is protected by very expensive patents.
If FreeSWITCH were to encode their sound files in g729, they would
have to pay a base fee of at least 10 or 15 thousand dollars (that's last
time i

I've pretty much standardized on using g729 as the codec of choice for
the users connecting to my FS installation, primarily due to the users I
have that are on very slow connections and all of my carriers support
g729, so no need to transcode.
The sounds files that comes with FS are raw PCM fi

That is presumably for the US. Do you know when the rest of us will be
free? Also, do you know if some of the later annexes have patents in the

be a real pain.

I could certainly support that card in FreeSWITCH but I would expect to
raise a bounty of 10k first to develop the module.

Hello,
I am not sure about the software G729 encoder support, but is there
something that we can work with OpenZAP + TC400 (G729, G723.1)
encoder/decoder card that Digium makes ?
Even I had similar issues earlier thats why I m stuck with Asterisk and
not able to move completely to FreeSwitch.

Hi, I'd like to know what's needed to add support for G729, I know
there's a bounty, but I couldn't make sense out of what's posted on
the wiki. I'm really interested in this, as one of my current VoIP
providers restricts me to using only this codec, which limits me to
using Asterisk, hence I can't
