The channel number is passed in that position, though you can also
pass other stuff, like the channel name I think. I don't care too much
about it because I've moved to tvtime and it does all that much more
easily.
As for the 16:9 thing, the problem is I need to know what resolutions

How's your system recovery going?
I tried the new runtime-pre5-test1 mplayer and found that it didn't do
anything with the forceaudio option for tv parameters, needed to get my
v4l2 card working properly with mplayer. The mplayer startup message still
says Audio: no sound. I'm not sure
