I figured it out. The S-video input on my card is 'composite2' for the
TV_SETTINGS and VCR_SETTINGS values.

I can't recall/find find'em.

except that I get a small ugly looking little white ripple
at the very top of the picture.

I'm having trouble selecting S-Video as my input for watching tv.
The following command at the console gives me beautiful tv in mplayer:
mplayer -tv driver=v4l:width=640:height=480:outfmt=yuy2:input=2:norm=NTSC
