I tried echo 1 /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/check_media to no avail and well Gentoo builds everything off sources. I tried removing freevo, mmpython, lsdvd and then installing lsdvd, followed by mmpython then freevo. No joy either. Anybody got any other suggestions to why it is not detecting any dvd's as

I installed freevo from the debian sources and got everything up and running first by using X11 and a 3dfx card for tv-out. I had an old DXR3 card lying around and figured I ought to do something with it, so I decided to set it up in my freevo box and use it because it has better video out.
