I have been using freevo for the last couple of days, trying things
out. I really like the web interface, so far, as well as the fact that
everything is in Python.
Now to my question.
I setup two programs to record, one at 9:00pm and the next at 9:30pm.
The first one started great, then at
I compress recorded tv after it has finished recording. The start of
the bash script is as follows;

#!/bin/bash
CAPTURE_EXTENSION="ts"
TRANSCODED_EXTENSION="avi"
THUMBNAIL_EXTENSION="jpg"
TRANSCODER="/home/freevo/freevoscripts/transcoder.sh"
THUMBNAILER="/home/freevo/freevos

Also Fedora is real easy to install, and after you config yum all you
have to do is "yum install freevo"

The default xine config in 1.5.4 appears to be
duff. /usr/share/freevo/freevo_config.py contains these two settings:
XINE_COMMAND = '%s --hide-gui -pq -g -B --geometry %sx%s+0+0
--no-splash' % \
(CONF.xine, CONF.width, CONF.height)
XINE_ARGS_DEF = '--no-lirc --post=pp:quality=10;
Try to install mandrake (mandriva), AFAIK there are enough updated
packages of freevo, and the install process is really easy (
installation from internet repository ).
Once you got it installed, browser the freevo wiki for mandriva, and use
google to learn how to install packages with "urpmi"
