I just started using freevo tonight on an xbox (xebian) and I happened to
notice that H264 video will not play, it's just a black screen. I hear the
audio but no video. Is this fixable with a codec or is it a software bug?
I believe I'm using xine to play the videos as that was the default for the
xebian installation...

I use mplayer to play videos. Freevo can play anything that mplayer can, because freevo is just a front-end. And yes, mplayer can play h264. So install h264 and recompile mplayer. I'm not sure, but perhaps mplayer-pre8 has already h264 support.
