Actually it ran quite nicely apart from some trouble I got with the
recordserver due to kaa trouble.
Apart from that, 1.8 doesn't improve cpu calls, it's still ~205.
This is not not bad
Hi all,
I have not had thumbnails on my recorded programs since 1.7.1 - I upgraded to
1.7.4 in the hope it
would fix things but still no luck. So I looked into it myself, and have a fix

python, or the internals of freevo, so I want to check that what I've done is
safe/right

Yup, This is a kaa problem.SImplest solution is to reinstall kaa. I
recommend installing form SVN as this seems to be a problem with the

Uhmmm, I yust upgraded to kernel 2.6.23.x and now my freevo is doing
1000 wakeups too...
I will see what kernel option I used that causes this.

Hi all,
With the release of 1.7.4 with the video podcast viewer I'm looking for
you to post your postcast feeds here so we can build up a large

but if you want to categorise

CONFIG_HIGH_RES_TIMERS is responcible for this, without it I get ~205
again. (running 1.8.x fine and stable ;)

Hi,
I've got pre and post padding of 1 minute to try make sure I don't miss
bits of shows and it works ok (must check the vbi stuff again). If I
have two recordings back to back I think the post and pre should be
ignored for the overlapping part. Currently the pre padding settings

Could the CONFIG_NO_HZ (Dynamic ticks) option be of any help? This
url[1] that it doesn't reduce much the power
There is no rel-1 branch of kaa as it's new and you need the latest svn
of kaa.
The rel-1 branch is using kaa notifier as the event, timer, etc. We use
kaa.rpc along with Twisted for some of the record server calls.
The rel-1-7 branch uses the old stuff and Twisted

I don't know about your problem, but have you tried the stock kernel instead?
The tmb kernel on Mandriva systems is, as far as I know, a kernel with
little or no patches, which makes it pretty clean, but also less
usable on most systems ;-)
