I'm a MythTV user who is considering moving my system to Freevo. I came across
an issue that might be a deal breaker and want to make sure its not my

To those of you who helped test the recent kaa.base updates, my thanks.
I'm disabled the egg support in kaa.base by default for now, until we
can address some of the problems.
If you installed kaa.base from svn over the past week, please remove
site-packages/kaa* and reinstall the kaa modules

seems like i can't get audio spidf out (iec958) when playing music, but
when playing video files everything is ok.
in freevo 1.8.2 (gentoo) i've configured the MPLAYER_AO_DEV_OPTS
='device=iec958' and MPLAYER_AO_DEV= 'alsa'.
these parameters are correctly passed to the mplayer

On closer examination, it seems that my display is not quite 18 characters wide!
My solution was to change this line:
width = self.lcd.d_width
to:
width = self.lcd.d_width-2
It's a bit of a hack, I know, but by effectively limiting the screen to 16
columns it keeps the display nicely
