I had to use '/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf defaults,ro,user 0 0' instead of
auto in my fstab. Problem is i can't read normal discs this way but dvd's
work now :)
So it's more like a workaround then a fix.

I'm no PVR guru but have u loaded the ivtv plugin? Since it's still using
mplayer it might fallback to default which is mplayer, even tho u've
uncommented it.
u can check ure plugins with freevo plugins list (i think)

I think the only drawback is that it doesn't seem to have all vesa modes

If u have ure modules loaded correctly see alsa-project.org. Also set ure

When i try to run a DVD movie freevo is parsing the wrong syntax to mplayer.
Any idea how this can happen? This is the syntax it sends instead of dvd://

Still it's working here so i'm not gonna bother trying with the CVS version

As far as i know freevo doesn't need X libraries or headers. It's basically
build on python so yes u can compile it without X.
No idea about the flags tho.

I think u have CONFIG_MATROX_MAVEN in your kernel compiled. Remove it and
that error is gone :)
See http://www.saunalahti.fi/~syrjala/directfb/Matrox_TV-out_README.txt for
more info about what to compile and what not.
Good luck.

Hi again,
I've a small question. After i recompiled my stuff to get rid of the runtime
package it seems that i can't get any display anymore with mplayer 0.92. It
gives me this error:
Can't get CRTC2 layer - Not supported!
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
Any clues,

I've recompiled DirectFB and SDL in the hope to fix my tearing problems. All
went well but now i get this message and i'm kinda clueless :(

I've had the same on pal. My sollution was to change the res e.g. 720x576.
So try some res's. If someone had a good sollution for this i'd like it too,
800x600 is a bit better in the menu's for vid's it's not better since pal
doesn't do 800x600 as far as i know.

I like dfbmga becoz u don't have to manually adjust the image position with
fbset. And yes it's better quallity but also alot more work.
Using pal @ 720x576 every other res i get a blue screen :( not sure what the
problem is but i think it has something todo with fbset :(

Hi Niklas,

Is a seachable list for mplayer.
And now were talking about OSD anyways, is there anyone who has osd out of
the screen? I mean it's too low so u can't read the second line fully? I'm
using dfbmga atm and had this problem ever since. Had no probl
My problem is indeed that SDL has no support for directfb, after upgrading
pkgconfig and setting the export good SDL could found directfb.
So i compiled it all, linked it, but now i get this message:
./freevo
./runtime/apps/freevo_python: ./runtime/dll/libpthread.so.0: version
`GLIBC_2.3.2' not fou
I'm having the same prob. Tho directfb seems to work and dfbplayer too. Just
pygame.error: No available video device that bugs :(

I've solved my prob with just using system mplayer. Was too lazy to install
the dxr3 :)
Just a fresh stable version of mplayer with codecs (pff that's alot of
compiling :P).
Anywayz for other users with same problem i'd suggest the same. Specially
for those who don't have a dxr3 laying around.

What happend to the mplayer version? Becoz i can't get any audio anymore
with version 1.3.2
Using sblive with SPDIF out to a dd/5.1 decoder with MPLAYER_ARGS_DEF =
'-ac mad, -ac ac3, bla bla bla' (ac3 was hwac3)
It works when i use oss:/dev/dsp so it's no kabels and or modules.

Yes u can in freevo.conf
i think u have it at 800x600 now and u need 7XXx5XX not sure what exact

Yes it can with framebuffer support.
And with fbset u can control your tv.
Basically it depends on what videocard u use. If u use a G400 u can use the
mga module for it.
Try looking in the documentation for FB (framebuffer)
