Which ATI tv card do you have? I'm using the ATI TV Wonder and had a
similar problem when I started working with it. The autodetection
didn't work right. I had to read through the bttv driver documentation
to figure out which tuner/card to select before I finally got it right.

tv wonder cards, so you may have to expressly set your card and tuner values
when you "modprobe."
