I did put the /dev/pcd0 in the ROM_DEVICES config... The problem is that freevo doesn't ever think there is anything in the drive. :)
It is in the fstab, and it can be mounted fine. (And mplayer will play the VCD without using freevo) -- but freevo doesnt' think anything is in the drive... I tried audio cds, and VCDs -- but it always displays "no disk" in the menu. It both detected it from the fstab, and also when I messed with the config file, it finds the cd drive on startup. (I say that, because if I leave the disk open, when freevo launches, it closes the drive -- but never thinks anything is loaded) The reason I asked about adding a line in freevo, is if I could make a menu option that forces mplayer to play a VCD (even if freevo doesnt' think there is a disk in the drive) it would help... I also have an external USB cdrom -- and I will probably try it, but it sure would be nice to be able to use the parallel port drive, because honestly -- what else am I going to do with it!!! I dont' know how freevo looks for media in the drive, but perhaps the CDROM doesnt' report that info correctly. I dont' have another CDROM in the computer to see if it works on ATAPI drives... Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I'm willing to try most things, and I'm pretty handy with linux -- but I'm not sure where to start. (I'm a network admin by trade, and a bash script is about the extent of my programming skills) Thanks again, -Shawn ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The debugger for complex code.
