It simply means a higher bit rate version. You can avoid it if you'd prefer.

This "upgrade" came for two reasons:
1 - Its way less storage to store one song for thousands of people
2 - Many, many folks initially recorded their music as compressed as possible, so this upgrade is very welcome by folks who did so.
