All of the SecFocus mailing lists are moderated to an extent. Kelly
Martin moderates the Security Basics list (I believe - been awhile
since I participated on that list). I think waiting for some
additional info from a moderator is needed before one can jump to any
more conclusions. It is entirely possible this just slipped through.
It's possible someone found an open relay. It's possible someone from
SecFocus decided to send out some spam.

Only they can really tell. =)
