Nipper is an Open Source tool that parses network infrastructure device configuration files. Nipper produces a report from the configuration that includes a security audit, a configuration report and other relevent information.
The security report includes details of the findings, the impact of the issue and recommendations on how to mitigate the problem. Nipper currently supports the following device types: * Cisco IOS-based routers * Cisco IOS-based catalysts * Cisco NMP-based catalysts * Cisco CatOS-based catalysts * Cisco PIX-based Firewalls * Cisco ASA-based Firewalls * Cisco FWSM-based Firewalls * Cisco Content Service Switches * Juniper ScreenOS-based Firewalls (NetScreen) * Nortel Passport devices * CheckPoint Firewall-1 Firewalls * Sonicwall SonicOS-based Firewalls * Bay Networks Accelar * Nokia IP Firewalls This maintenance release (0.11.6) includes improvements to support for Cisco IOS-based routers and switches. This release also includes some minor improvements to the report output text. Nipper is platform independent.
