Apple has mentioned that the cardbus adaptors prevent a normal
connection from occurring. You need to place the iPod into disk mode
(read the manual for how) and it will do just fine. This is partially
due to the inability for the cardbus Firewire cards to provide adequate
power to the ports.

Have you upgraded to 10.2.8 yet? I have noticed a useful improvement in
battery life since this upgrade, from typically 1.5 hours back to 2
hours plus. This on a machine with a 550MHz G4 upgrade and running
Airport on the original battery.

I've got an 867MHz 12 PowerBook G4 that I bought from the Apple Store
with a 40G hard drive. I'm down to about 2G free (most of it is taken
up with MP3s...) and I'd like to upgrade it to something bigger. I see

If they won't, then how about an external bus powered case and put the
80 in that. Plenty of MP3s will fit on there ;)

They will put one in for you or you can ask any authorized Apple repair
center to do it for you. BTW that drive is great I have it myself.
