Stopped in at a local independent dealer to have them take a look at
the ethernet connector on the rear of the lombard... we determined
that the two wires in the computer socket on the outsides (one on
each side of the socket) had been compressed a bit... we used a
dental tool to lift them
I solved the problem of the missing menu bar icons! With the help of a guy

You can do an upgrade install and install panther right over jaguar
(10.2). That's what I did and it works great.
