This is a longshot-but in your predicament, it's probably worth a try.
I haven't had this exact situation, but I did with the HP 1200
laserjet ( a big problem for Mac users, unlike the support HP gave
for their real printers, the 4/5/6MPs).
The idea is to use Apple's LaserWrite
