Drew. I got the machine running again. The case was that I thougt that the arrow up key was the option key. After being puzzled for a long time the switch went on. That made a big difference. And the sound didn't sound because the soundlevel was at 0. Thank you so much. You are my hero! What a kno

i attached a new fire wire Toshiba 30 GB hard disk to my Pismo 400 by placing it in a case firewire case from SITECOM. art.no CN-600. It didn't show up at the desk top. After taking the firewire plug in and out many times after eachother, it showed up. I formatted it and installed system 9. Fine.
