hi there

last night, after a restart, my firewire port stopped working .. for me it's
a big problem, i've got all my work on a external drive and i always use a
lot of firewire devices ...

so ... i went on apple discussions, where i saw that a lot of people had the
same problem (it happened with powermac too)... someone, with a reset of the
nvram, of the power manager and of the pram was lucky, someone like me
wasn't ...

now i have to send the titanium to the centralized office (holland) to
repair it, and i know that i'll probably pay the flat rate (maybe it's the
logic board), but i sincerely don't know how much it is... someone speaks
about 450 euros, but i'm not so sure ...

what i don't understand is: it's a voltage or energu problem? i tried with
hd, ipod ... nothing ... they have energy but i can't mount it ...

when i connect the ipod, for example, the firewire logo comes up ... after 3
seconds it switch off , re-switching on in play mode ... but at the same
time i'm charging its battery ...

with the hd, i can only supply energy to it : the system profiler doesn't
see anything along the firewire bus ...

i'm not so happy about the titanium, i hoped that an apple notebook had more
quality inside it ...

btw, if u got a firewire port dead try to make a reset as i indicated, maybe
u'll be luckier than me:)
