'Morning/evening everyone,

A few months ago, I purchased a refurbished 300MHZ/256RAM/DVD Wallstreet PB
which came with an IBM DYLA-28100 8.1-GB, 2.5-Inch IDE Hard-Disk Drive. The
drive, it turns out, is surprisingly(?) loud. It spins down fine, but the
hard drive needs to spin pretty continuously most of the time for what i'm
doing (audio mosly).

Initially, I thought I could live with the constant whirring, but as I am
doing more and more live audio work, I need to find a relatively low-cost,
silencing solution -- ie. replace the drive??

Has anyone had a similarly noisy experience with this type of drive?
Given the CPU speed, can anyone suggest a much quieter (yet equally
sizeable/GB) drive model?

Many thanks.

Richard
