I'd try and get a Lucent-based card. They seem to have better range than,
say, the Linksys variety. I have both the Linksys WPC11 and the Lucent
Silver, both work fine in OSX.
There are plenty of places to get a Lucent cheap. They have changed names a
bunch of times over the years, so Agere, Avay
The Lucent SilverLan Turbo cards work fine with Airport Software. I've got one
in my PB3400 and it's transparent. You have to use TomeViewer to extract the
Airport software from the CD but that's all.
