To get rid of the delay (and to avoid further crashes) I replaced the "Apple Script" extension from 9.2.2 (version 1.7) by that one, which came with 9.2 (version 1.6). Note: This cannot be done using the "Extension on/off" control field! Additionally I replaced "Standard Additions" inside the "Scripting Additions" folder the same way: No delay, no crash now!
