That's very reassuring to hear. I had planned to send my wallstreet in for the hinge upgrade, thinking that for $10 more than the stock hinges it was a great deal. Sadly even though it is only $79 for the hinges and installation, they quoted me $86 (about $116 Canadian) for the return shipping (One way!) to BC Canada.
How close to the border do you live? I keep a postal box in a U.S.border town and get everything sent there... saves tons on cross border shipping. Most U.S. border towns have parcel services that offer all sorts of services for Canadians.
