Apple is sitting on ~4.3billion in cash and short term investments. Their
market cap is ~5.3 billion.

That's not the point. Apple if they wanted to has the cash to BUILD their
own PPC factory. They could build a space shuttle with a big apple logo. But
that isn't the point.

Without going into market economics or shareholder value, lets just say that
quarters in the red are bad.
