Help...SOS...I have a project to do today and I really need my internet to work...heres my sad story
My dsl is working fine on the beige G3 9.0 upstairs Downstairs on the Lombard it shows airport signal strength....the card "blinks" but it will not hold a connection someone suggested: > the router's signal is not strong enough where you were trying to use the PB; > but I have not moved the pb... > check the TCP/IP settings. > I went thru and re selected the configurations->default-rename-> make active...and it worked...for 40 min and then nada...actually The scenario was...after I redid the configuration...I thought woo hoo and left it on and left the house...so nothing moved. When I got back it had tried to connect 3x and then locked up the PB and the connection was off again. > the TCP/IP control panel and see what the IP addresses are, > I have a DCHP server...it's address box is empty...and blinking with a cursor. and someone suggested > In addition **sometimes** even moving the router or the PB a couple of inches > can make a big difference in the signal strength. The scenario was...after I > redid the configuration...I thought woo hoo and left to take my dd to take her > driver's test...so nothing moved. When we got back it was off again. You know > now that I think about it the pb was locked up when I got home...it had tried > to dial up 3 times and failed so it checked out. poor dear. > > Since it *does* work, if only for a short while, that indicates that it's not > a software problem. Everything is working on that end. You'll have to get > somebody that knows about Linksys routers to help you sort out what problems > there might be from that end. > > The only thing I can suggest is find out where it says how long the DHCP > "lease time" is (don't ask me to explain it). Then see what some of the other > DSL users are using for that lease time. If the lease is not renewed > immediately it will cause the DSL connection to drop. That may not be your > problem, but it's worth checking. > -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
