Jarret, I run my Pismo this way all the time. What works best for me under
10.1.5 is just power on the computer with the VGA cable and USB keyboard
attached, then as soon as you get the startup chime, close the lid. I leave
mine on all the time with this configure and have never had an issue with
it, heat or otherwise.
