I've got a Pismo 400, iMac 600 Summer 2001 and a 120G external firewire drive. The iMac is running 10.2.8 and the Pismo 10.3.7.
I wanted to backup my home directory from the Pismo to the firewire drive, but it wouldn't see the drive, even in disk utility. I decided to use a roundabout method. I hooked up the Pismo with a firewire cable to the iMac and used firewire target mode to copy the laptop files to the desktop. It took five hours to copy 22 gigs.
The iMac sees the external firewire drive just fine, and I was able to copy the files over in about twenty minutes. Any suggestions on why 1) the Pismo won't see the external drive and 2) why target mode was so slow?

TIA,
THW
