I remember someone told that the PowerBook G3
(Wallstreet and Lombard) can be started with the
Display Closed from an external Keyboard.
The PowerBook may boot but it will go to sleep.
According to Apple:

Article ID: 51194

Your PowerBook G3 Series goes to sleep when you close
the display
The PowerBook's display must be open when you use an
external monitor. Unlike the PowerBook (FireWire) or
PowerBook G4, you can't use a PowerBook G3 Series
computer with the display closed.
Disconnecting an external monitor

1. Make sure your computer is shut down or in sleep.
2. Make sure your monitor is switched off.
3. Disconnect the monitor cable (for a VGA-style
monitor) or monitor adapter (for an Apple monitor)
from the external monitor port on the computer's back
panel.

This document contains information from the PowerBook
G3 Series User's Manual.
