i has a similar issue just recently with my Lombard. In this instance overheating was caused by the HD continuously seeking even in sleep mode (one could hear it). The machine however behaved normally if logging in under a different, newly created user. You might want to try this step as well befor

I don't think it should be getting that hot! Maybe the fans are not working. Mine definitely gets warm and I have seen temps at 58 or 59c but not higher than that. In sleep mode it should stay cold as nothing will be running. Time to get Apple to look at it On Jun 10, 2004, at 12:43 PM,
